Voice
Olivia’s Lockdown Choir is an accessible and ambitious choir project with the end goal of producing and releasing a professional recording to raise awareness and support for those individuals who have struggled through the COVID-19 lockdown.
Funded by the National Lottery, the project is inclusive, accessible and open to people of all age groups and backgrounds living in Leicestershire. Unlike a typical choir, our Lockdown Choir will be formed of recordings from people singing safely in their own home.
Everyone taking part will be given information and support about how to record themselves at home using simple everyday equipment. We’ll be providing online vocal coaching workshops to help everyone make the most of their voice too.
Once we’ve collected the recordings from everyone, our technical team at Brickwork Studios will combine all of those into a mass choir. We’ll then make the finished recording available online through major outlets and manufacture CDs that will be free for everyone who took part.
After taking a poll of people who had expressed an interest in taking part earlier in the year, we chose “Heal The World” as the song we’re going to record.
We hope this project will provide a fun and rewarding experience for everyone involved and particularly support those who might be feeling isolated.
